Melbourne Build Waste Management Guidance for International Exhibitors

Timber built stands, unless removed from site post event will not be permitted and stand builds solely made of single use timber/mdf materials that will be sent to landfill after the show will not be approved.

Melbourne Build encourages alternative build solutions composed of Aluminium system-built stand types with recyclable fabrics and locally hired furniture. These stands involve less waste and are much quicker to construct and build.

Crates being brought to Melbourne Build need to be removed from site regardless of size – Size to be a maximum size of 3m long x 1.2 wide x 3m high. Nothing over 3m in length is allowed in the halls.

Crates disposed of onsite will attract waste disposal fees based on volume not weight.

WASTE

It is the responsibility of the stand builder to have stand build rubbish removed before further materials are brought in during set up. GEL Event Logistics will work with organisers on this and will not deliver freight to stands if there is stand builder waste that needs to be removed from surrounds.

Stand Builders who require waste disposal should contact the organisers in advance.

Waste disposal fees below:
1/3 - 1/4 of a skip: $600 + GST
1/2 of a skip: $975 + GST
Full skip (max. 3 tonnes): $1,950 + GST

Any waste intended for disposal MUST be broken down and flat packed / palletised so that it can easily be removed by GEL Logistics or the cleaners and taken offsite with stand freight when leaving the venue. The organisers will provide labels for stand builders so pallets with stand builder waste are easily identified from stand build materials. Crates or other waste that needs to be broken down will incur further labour charges.

All Space Only Stands are provided with a clean area to commence work and the space must be returned in the same condition. This includes the removal of all floor tapes and any tape residue, furniture or any product or material brought into the venue by any exhibitor or contractor.

The organisers would recommend the use of pallets and shrink wrap as an alternative to “disposable crates”

Exhibitors who want to pre-book waste removal at the venue can do so via Exhibitor Stand Waste Disposal Form and return to operations@melbournebuildexpo.com or jessica.solano@ikonservices.com.au seven (7) days prior to the event.

Products that are shipped to the venue and displayed on stands and are then intended to be disposed of should be pre booked. Once booked the exhibitor will receive a sticker to show that the waste has been booked in with the organisers

If you have a distributor etc collecting the samples they will not be permitted to remove the items before the close of the show at 17:30 if they want access to the loading dock they must come to the venue in closed toed shoes and high vis vests. If possible they should park in the car park rather than the loading dock.

We would prefer that goods are taken offsite and exchanged elsewhere.

Please note that any goods not collected by 10am Friday 24th October will be treated as waste and disposed of and the charges will be passed to the exhibitors or agent responsible
